In linking the Global Billion Tree Campaign to Local Action, CABE and its local partners recently planted over 15,000 tree seedlings (i.e., 10,600 exotic and 4,400 indigenous species) in 11 primary schools and 7 public institutions in Funyula division, Busia District of Western Kenya. This means that each institution planted 1 acre of tree seedlings. The planted tree species include eucalyptus, gravelia, cyprus, casuarinas, bischovia, mysopsis and makhamia.

The positive response by the participating institutions in planting and caring arrangements for the tree seedlings has motivated CABE and its local partners to explore opportunities for meeting our remaining pledge of raising, distributing and caring for 35,000 tree seedlings (our total pledge for 2007 is 50,000 tree seedlings).
